Starting Nursery at Stag Lane Infant & Nursery School

Meeting the teacher:

All families are offered a time to meet the teacher to begin the process of home-school links.  This is  an excellent opportunity for your child to meet the nursery staff and to ease their transition into the nursery.

Play day:

After meeting the teacher, families are invited to spend some time together in the Nursery.  This is an opportunity for children to explore the nursery environment with their parents/carers supporting them.

Flexible timing:

During the first few weeks of nursery we do not expect children to spend a full three hours at school.  We understand that for many children this is the first time away from their main care giver and we are able to adapt timings to ensure your child’s transition into nursery is as smooth as possible.

Parental involvement:

We understand and appreciate that you know your child better than anyone and we encourage you to share as much information with the nursery staff about your child as you can.  Every term a questionnaire is sent home, allowing us to find out what children are telling you about nursery, and the activities they are enjoying at home.  Parents are very welcome to provide photographs of their children taking part in various activities outside school. These photographs can be emailed directly to the nursery at:

Formal Parents Evenings take place three times a year, and parents / carers are welcome to borrow their child’s Learning Journey Portfolio.Nursery staff are available to speak to you at the beginning of every Nursery session.
